About the wine: The 2019 Sweetwater has a ton of panache; it's really inviting and maybe our favorite Sweetwater to date. Our treasured Sweetwater Saddle Cabernet vineyard is known for its beautiful cherry pipe tobacco nose. 2019 is no different. The year yielded a lush and broader Cabernet and right from the fermenter, we knew that this was going to be a special year for Sweetwater. 2019 was also the first year that a regrafting project brought fruit to fruition and allowed for a little Merlot to come from the Sweetwater Saddle Vineyard. This Merlot is a different breed, extremely intense and more Cabernet-like than any Merlot we have worked with. It has intense blue fruit, and this character and intensity is a fun ingredient in our blending process. The Merlot added a little bit of grace and satin to a very powerful cabernet site. The wine’s profile isn’t changed much, however the wine is more approachable in its youth but is still built to age. It’s the same Sweetwater... only with a sweeter demeanor :)

Aromatics: The nose has bright high tones with lifted floral spice, boysenberry, Agua de Jamaica, cedar box, crushed blackberry fruit, warmed tar, and cherry pipe tobacco.

Mouth: The mouth shows juicy cherry, black forest cake, dried herbs, blue elderberry, dark mineral tones, Indian spices, and freshness all framed by dusty tannins and bright acidity.
